Welcome to Knitting Help!
Are you knitting the scarf in the round or knitting it back and forth? In the round you connect the last stitch of the row to the first stitch and knit a tube. If you're knitting back and forth, you're using the circular like two straight needles that happen to be connected to each other.
Is it the working strand of yarn that's twisted or the rows of knitting?
If you could post a photo maybe that would help.
