(1) Jon Jeavons, How to Grow More Vegetables...** (8th ed. is the one I have). Gives planting instrux for 100, 200, etc. sq.ft. plots in the ground. **and fruits, nuts, berries, grains, and other crops) than you ever thought possible on less land than you can imagine.]

(2) Mel Bartholomew, All New Square Foot Gardening (2005 ed.).

(3) Eliot Coleman, Four-Season Harvest (Coleman gardens and harvests in Maine).

I use a combination of Jeavons's and Bartholomew's methods: intensive spacing and culture methods in raised boxes of ≥12 sq.ft.

Gardening while the sun is up and knitting while the sun is down is a nice rhythm (but we all need paying work!).
