First sweater? Enough said. It's not the simplest starter but it does seem to be a good pattern. You've gotten over the most difficult part with the yoke shaping.
Using the lifeline is going to be very helpful for the body of the sweater and probably some markers to keep track of pattern repeats.
It's also good to keep an eye on the pattern repeats to make sure each row lines up correctly.
Have fun with the rest of the sweater!
