great american afghan is a great idea in theory... but just read the reviews of it on amazon, ravelry etc... most succinct one: "The blocks in this afghan are beautiful but VERY challenging. This is not for a beginner knitter." i saw they have a kids version but unfortunately it's for kids to use, not kids to knit, and it looks even harder, with hidden pockets, tons of color changes, etc. so there goes that idea, for me anyway. the rest of you, enjoy
