My pattern (Ravenna cable pull from elann) is knit sideways. I've never done a sideways pattern. Coming up the first arm toward armhole (such as it is), pattern has the increases coming fast and furious: "On every other row 1 st 3 times, 5 sts twice and 40 (38) sts once..."

My question is, how do you do several increases together (the five, then the 40)?
