Are they just simple 1 stitch decreases, or is the chart having you decrease 2 or more stitches? You can't dec 2 or more, you'd have to do a BO and that has to be done at the beginning of the row. If it's just decreasing one, then I don't see a reason why you can't do them at both ends of the row.
