Knit, Purl, Knit, Purl then knit all in the next stitch.
P5, then sl 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th st over 1st st - 1 st remains.

You knit into the stitch, but don't slide it off. Bring the yarn to the front between the needles and purl into the same stitch again, yarn to back, knit into the stitch yet again, yarn to front, purl, yarn to back, knit. Then slide it off. You'll have 5 stitches where there was one.

Turn the work and purl these 5 stitches. Then lift the second stitch from the right point over the first one and off the needle--like doing a psso. Then lift the 3rd, 4th, and 5th over the same way.
