I have a friend that wants to knit up a pattern which calls for Patons Diploma Gold yarn 4-Ply (see
here for a description), but it appears that it's not available in this country... at least I've had zero luck finding it anywhere other than the U.K.
It's a DK weight, part wool & part acrylic. All I know about the pattern is that it's for a knitted toy where gauge and fit are not hugely important (she's making it for me so she won't tell me anything else lol).
What yarn would you recommend as a substitution? It's for a baby toy so a broad variety of color choices would probably be good.
Oh! And she is no where the yarn snob
that I am so she will probably want something easily found at Michaels or Joann's.
