You will just have to keep to the rib pattern by using less stitches. By the time you get to those rows, you should have the pattern well enough established that you can keep your knitting in it. This sounds like a good opportunity to learn how to `read' your knitting instead of getting anxious when the stitches don't match your written pattern.
