If you haven't watched them yet, the videos here on Make 1 Left and Make 1 Right are how to increase in my favorite way, that is, almost invisibly. Also, when you are told to increase in a row, they often don't bother to tell you this

, but they mean for it to be evenly spaced. Except for situations like a thumb gusset in a mitten-- that HAS to be in the right spots because you are trying to create an extension off of the original piece. So in other words, if you combine zkimom's and suzeeq's advice, it'll be perfect!
