8st cable names?

I have designed a pattern, and now Im trying to write it.

Ive already charted it, and now Im writing the row by row directions.

There are 6 different 8st cables in it and I was wondering what to call each of them?

Charting this was much easier as I just put different symbols on them, but now I need to distinguish the difference in the written word.

Should I just use the alphabet? ie: �8LCA� �8RCA� �8LCB� �8RCB�

OR�.
What do yall think?

You could just put the symbol and directions for doing the cable in the key. You don't have to name them. Maybe after writing out the directions, you'll find a pattern in the words that would help to identify them.

Knitting from a chart is so visual, I think the symbol and an explanation is all you really need, though.

Yes, for the charts, that is all i need.

but the folks who will be using the line by line directions, probly wont be looking at the charts.

I need to name the cables for the line by line directions.

Perhaps I wasnt clear enough...

This pattern will be made from charts OR written directions.

Ah. If there's a chart available, I only use it, so I don't think about the written directions.

Write out the directions and see if something pops up that will distinguish one from the other with initials, or label them A-F with the key near the directions.

UPDATE:

After talking to many people, the general consensus is that I write out the cable description in the row that the cable goes in, and not worry about naming them.

Im going to do that.

Do you think this is a good idea?

As someone who can't follow a chart I thank you for writing out the line by line directions as well. So many times I wanted to knit a pattern only to find it in chart form and I am stuck unless I take the time out to go through the chart and re-write it which is VERY hard for me to do.

As far as cable names go just something simple and short works for me. If I have difficulty with a specific cable name and a pattern is short enough I may rename it myself to what makes sense for me.

If the instructions for each cable aren't too lengthy then you could also just have them written out directly into the pattern.
