Scroll Lace Scarf by Ysolda

I've knitted for almost 50 years..have never had a problem with a pattern...this one....First of all - what does 'wrapped' mean? Example: Row 3: k to wrapped st, k wrap together with wrapped st, k5, w+t.
Also, When doing a "yo" which way is it to go? Around the needle to the Right, or around the needle to the Left..does it make a difference. I can't seem to come up with a 'yo' that I can knit into on the following row...I always come to the end of the row with the wrong number of stitches..sometimes too many, sometimes too few.
This is a lovely-looking collar, but it has me stymied. This site is likely too large for me to handle, but this is where I ended up when I was trying to contact the author of the pattern and ask questions.
Any other time, I could have this knitted in one evening...I'm on the 2nd night now, and have 4 rows and 15 complete rip-outs. About to chuck the pattern. Thanks anyone....ML :

When you wrap and turn, you're working short rows. Work to the stitch indicated in the pattern. Slip the next stitch, bring the yarn forward and slip the stitch back. That wraps the stitch to prevent a hole. This is the end of the row. At this point you turn the work and work the next set of directions. There are videos on how to do it above, as well.

When you've wrapped a stitch, there is a loop around it. When you get to it again, you lift the yarn that is wrapped up onto the needle and knit it together with the stitch.

For yo's, if you are knitting, you only have to bring the yarn forward and knit the next stitch. This creates an extra stitch that you will work on the next row. It doesn't look normal, and it creates a planned eyelet.

A YO is the wrapped the same as if you knit a stitch, the difference is the R needle isn't inserted into a stitch on the L needle.
