Circular needles and socks

Has anyone tried using a 12 inch circular for socks? I am making my very first pair of socks and am using 5 dpn....I am wondering if I would have preferred a circular.

In order to use a 12-inch circular, you'd have to have a circumference of 12 inches, unlikely for a sock. Dpns are best, in my opinion, but you can also use magic loop or two circs.

Personally I don't like circs that short. The needle length is so small it's uncomfortable to hold. I use either two circs or magic loop.
