Lovely masculine men's scarf
Well hello. I'm knitting a scarf as winter will eventually arrive in old Sydney Town (though our winters are quite mild).

I thought I'd share the pattern as it's quick and easy:

What you'll need

300 grams (10.5 ounces) of 8 Ply (wool is best).
1 pair of 8mm needles (US size 11)
1 cable needle (doesn't need to be big as your needles).

Special Abbreviations

C8B-slip next 8 sts onto cable needle and place at back of work, K8, then K8 from cable needle

C8F-slip next 8 sts onto cable needle and place at front of work,
K8, then K8 from cable needle

Cast on 34 sts
Commence Pattern
Row 01 (RS) P5, K24, P5
Row 02 (WS) purl
Row 03 P5, K8, C8F, P5
Row 04 purl
Row 05 P5, K24, P5
Row 06 purl
Row 07 P5, K24, P5
Row 08 purl
Row 09 P5, K24, P5
Row 10 purl
Row 11 P5, C8B, K8, P5
Row 12 purl
Row 13 P5, K24, P5
Row 14 purl
Row 15 P5, K24, P5
Row 16 purl

These 16 rows form the pattern.
Repeat until work measures approx 230 cm (90.5 inches).
Cast off (bind off) loosely in part omitting any cables.

Finishing
Weave in loose ends.

Here's a picture - I'm just loving knitting and, as you can see, I decided to use colours between white stripes. I also think it would be very fine in a mustard or light chocolate colour, up to you.

Here's a photo - hope it's clear (please ignore the fugly holding it up!).

Hey it is lookin' great, and thanks for the pattern! I always think it is stupendous when men like to knit. My husband would have no patience for it though and you do need patience to knit for sure. Can't wait to see it all finished!

Nice! I think it would be good for a woman too. Love the cables, I must give it a go.

I agree. I think that pattern will work for either a man or a woman, depending on the color. Good job! Thanks for sharing the pattern, too.
