Coaster? LOL My 2nd FO
I modified a dishcloth pattern to make a coaster to match the dishcloth. My first real experience with purl stitch.

Perfect! Great alteration of a pattern, too.

At this rate, you'll be ready to tackle a sweater in no time!

A sweater is a scary thought lol! An Afghan maybe. A scarf. Lol. I'll get there. I want to learn some more stitches first.
Thanks to both of you!

Grandma's Favorite Dishcloth is a great pattern. You can learn and get used to yarn overs (yo) for increasing and then work on doing decreases. It's versatile too. Use it to make a dishcloth or washcloth or make it bigger and make a blanket, work just the first half and then bind off and you have a triangular shawl. There are lots of other patterns you can use to practice all kinds of stitch patterns. It's kind of fun really.

The only difference between an experienced knitter and new knitter is that the experienced knitter makes bigger mistakes faster. Be bold; there are no terrible consequences in knitting.

Great idea for the coaster! Dish cloths are a good projects to learn on, IMO. You can learn new stitches, and they knit up pretty quickly, too. And, of course, they're practical!
