plarn mat done
This one I crocheted rather than knitted....haven't done crochet in years due to sore thumb joint. Made all out of grocery bags, except for the blue, where I purchased a box of 20 larger garbage can-sized bags, nice and new.

This was crazy-fun to make! I left the laundry basket in pic to show size of mat.

This project began after I saw a young man sitting on the sidewalk in Kingston, ON (university town)....not doing anything but had a begging cup in front of him for people to drop cash into. I thought: how odd: he isn't playing a musical instrument, not reciting poetry....nada, and wants something for nothing.

but I went home, took pity on such a lad, and made this mat, intending to give it to him or anyone else unfortunate enuf to be sitting on the cold ground. Haven't seen him since.

That turned out really well and does sound like fun to crochet. Lucky you to find such a beautiful blue to work between the other bags.

Now I feel lonely for not having it to work on. Was going to make it six feet long, but not sure what I'd do with it afterwards.

Do you ever miss your work once it's done?

Nicely done. My attempts at plarn crochet were less than satisfactory and I've yet to try knitting the stuff. I love your mat. It's enough to make me want to give it another go. When I finish a project I feel like something's missing, there's nothing to grab without much thought, so I have to find a new one to replace it. I need to fill the hole. Maybe that's what you mean?

Oh, yeah. Big time, it's like a very nice person leaving on a journey and you'll never see them again, sort of.
