Sock pattern
Well, the type of sock pattern I started with could leave holes along the side of the heel if you're not careful.

The second type is the knit the heel flap and then pick up stitches type. This goes easily enough, but I was not enthusiastic about that method.

But here's another: increases and such, no pick up of stitches along edges, and no holes with mysterious comments about "just skip down two rows and pick up the loop" either! :

I may not do the patterning (blue/white) but I will definitely make this the next sock I knit.

Pax,
Nancy

That's very cool, Nancy. I'm a historical costumer myself, so I can appreciate your tedious reconstruction! Thanks for providing that website. Very cool.
