Another new knitter question

I'm sure this is easy as pie, but I'm not sure what it means to do.

Cast on 5 sts.
Row 1: knit 1, yarn over, knit to end..

This is the beginning of a scarf pattern I want to make. I know what yarning over means in crochet, and I assume it means in knit, just what it says, to wrap the yarn over the hook...er I mean needle. What I am not sure of is, does it mean to wrap the yarn over one time before each knit stitch across the row?

Nah .... it means to wrap just once. If you were supposed to wrap before *each* stitch it would read something like this: K1, *(yo, K1) rep * to end. Check out Amy's Video about "YO". (It's at the bottom of the link.)

Duh! I feel dumb. I didn't realize it was a term for 'increase'. I have watched some of Amy's increase videos, but never went all the way to the bottom of that page.

Thank you for your help. I can't guarantee I'll know what the next steps of the pattern are saying, so I may be back with another dumb question, but I really appreciate your help.
