Making PDF files of patterns

Anyone know how to make a PDF file? If I write it down and then try to scan the document in to my computer, I save it as a PDF but using which program?And how do I make it small enough so when someone opens it it's not this HUGE thing. And how do you make more than one page into one document? HELP!!! :thinking:

Unless you have Adobe software, you have to go to the adobe website, sign up for a trial membership, and you will be able to create a limited number of pdf's online. They will email the finished file to you rather quickly, or you can wait online to download it.

The complete version of Adobe software will run you about $65. I use it at work ALL the time.

You need software specifically for that purpose. One such product is made by Adobe. Many use their free program Acrobat Reader to view PDFs. They have a partner program that allows you to create them. Not cheap, though.

There are others, so I'd do some research before investing.

I use Acrobat to publish an 80 page college catalog for my local community college, and certainly would recommend it. Many helpful features. Their website is www.adobe.com.

My office is cheap, so we use a free download from here:

It's the one called PdfSuite995. Works just fine for small things, though I think the files are a bit larger than if you got the actual adobe software.

Also WordPerfect has a print to PDF capability. So does Paperport. So does Printshop 20.

I use CutePDF Writer. It's free for personal AND commercial use!

Just so you know, it installs as a printer. Create your document in whatever program you want, then print as if you were printing it on paper, but select the PDF program from your list of printers. Very easy.

However, if you are using a Mac, you can create a PDF without any extra software. Choose print from the menu, but print to file instead of whatever printer you have connected to your computer. Just another reason I love Macs.

Yeah I Mac too! I'm on a very old one too but I'm still able to do a lot. Cool, thanks for the tip!

I should clarify-- I believe the print to file on a Mac works in OS X.1 and higher. I don't know for sure if you can do the same thing in OS 9.
