I'm a very new knitter, and i've just recently learned the purl stitch, i have made gloves and i'm currently working on a pair of mittens, but i'm having trouble with my ribbed stitch, the pattern says to k2, p2 so i'm doing that but it's looking like the stitches are woven, not ribbed. once i get to the end of the row of k2, p2, when i start a new row do i start with k or p? i'm starting every row k2, i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong...help!

You don't want to
always start the row w/ K2. Basically for a ribbed pattern, you want to Purl the Knits and Knit the Purls. So if you have 8sts, Row1 is K2, P2, K2, P2 and Row2 will be K2, P2, K2, P2. Hope that helps
