Need some baby pattern ideas please

Hello! I am expecting my first child and would love to see any patterns that you have knit and loved. Free or for purchase. I don't know the sex yet so it will have to be unisex stuff for now.

I'm knitting for my baby due December 5th. I bought "50 Baby Bootees to knit" and am loving it. I've already made some "Roll top booties" out of a varagated yarn from Cotton Tots. They are beautiful. And today My friend Becca just sewed up "Lace and Diamond Bootees"from the same book. I left out the diamond on the pattern, cause I thought it took away from the lace, anyway I did it in Rowan Cotton Glace in a beige, and it is gorgeous. My MIL who is not impressed by anything, started crying when she saw it, and said it was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. Finally I impressed that woman! I would like to knit a bib and bonnet with the matching lace. So I'm learning about how to make patterns. FUn,fun, fun. I also love the Debbie Bliss baby books. I started a varagated (however you spell it) baby blanket, as I will not learn the sex till the birthday.

I'll be updating my blog this weekend with lots of pics.

I saw a book from Debbie Bliss awhile back and just thought the patterns were adorable! How difficult were the patterns to read? All charts or written out?

Oh yeah, that site will be forever bookmarked for me. I'm going to take some time this weekend to go thru them all. Let's hope I don't burn up my printer during the process!

The only thing I've heard about Debbie Bliss patterns are that they are rather big. But if you look at the pictures of the models in her books, the sweaters are very big on them. They look cute, though.

I have a baby blanket book that has some really unique ones in it, called Knit Baby Blankets by Gwen Steege.

That 50-booties book is fabulous. Also...I got a great book for my birthday called "Style Your Own Kid Knits." Each chapter is for a different age range, and it has basic patterns for like 4 or 5 different kinds of sweaters, with all sorts of instructions on how to customize the patterns. There's a glossary of stitch patterns, etc -- a veeeeery cool book that will serve me for years to come.

And of course my old stand-by is Melanie Falick's "Knitting for Baby." Love it. Erika Knight's "Knitting for Two" has some beautiful things in it...and I really like "The Yarn Girls' Guide to Kid Knits" too. (Can you tell I do a lot of knitting for my kids?)

Debbie Bliss patterns are so adorable, but they do run big. Either that or my mom doesn't swatch, because she's been making DB sweaters for us for years and they are always too big. The only thing I don't like about the patterns themselves is that they (at least the ones I have paged through) don't have drawings of what the finished pieces should look like -- you know, those little line drawings with dimensions and stuff? (I really like those.)

And of course there's the FT kids' clog pattern!
