DEFINITELY OT!!!!-Camera
DEFINITELY OT!!!!

Does anyone have those digital cameras that you can dock to those camera printers? How are they? How fast does it eat up your ink?

Thanks:-)

i had a bad experience with the Kodak brand, but that was about 5 years ago. i'm not sure how they are now.

i'm a Nikon shooter, but i use a dSLR now. i've had really good luck with Nikon Point & Shoot digitals in the past though. :D

I have a Kodak DX760 which is an easyshare.

The docking station printer's consumables come in packs. You'll get 40 sheets of paper, and one ink cartridge.

There is only enough ink for the amount of paper in the pack.

So it will entirely depend on how often you print pictures.

Comes out to about AUS$1 per print for a 6x4

i totally read your post wrong. i thought you meant the computer dock, not the printer dock. i don't have any experience with those.

i do have an Epson PictureMate though - you can just put the memory card in there.

the print pack ink will outlast the print pack paper (100 ct)

Those camera dock printers use only THEIR paper. You may be better off getting a camera that you can hook up directly to your puter with a USB cable and buy some photo-quality paper to print on...

I have a kodak one and love it ...does come with a cable so you can hook it up to your computer and print it from your printer ifyou need too... The picture quality is great and when I go home to WV I can print pictures right there for my family.. they don't have to wait till I get home... You should have seen my grandfather's face when I snapped his picture hooked up the dock and gave him the hard copy LOL... I really get alot use out of mine and love it...

I think for instant gratification they are a great thing to have. I have an HP photo printer that has a slot for the memory card. SInce it is a full sized printer it does more than just a 4x6 which makes it worthwhile for me. The paper and ink are very expensive.

I usually have prints made at Costco if I don't need them that very second. You can take in your memory card, CD, etc and prints are done in an hour. They have lots of different sizes, including wallets and are dirt cheap ($.17 for a 4 x6). You can also upload them to the Costco website (goes through Snapfish) and pick up your prints at the store an hour later. I hardly use the printer for photos any more.

Want the technical opinion? If you have a good printer that is for pictures, documents, and so on, you'll get less mad if the printer craps out on you. If you have a small camera dock printer and it goes bad... you'll be REAL upset.

Plus printers have a shelf life - desk life?- of only 3-5 years now how they are currently made, so you'd be paying all that money for a product you'll love only to be shopping for another in about 4 years.
