Hey,

On one of the Harry Potter movies i LOVED Ron's mothers (mrs. weasley) sweater..it was the shot of them being in Ron's kitchen. Anyways...she came downstairs with a gorgeous sweater with huge bell sleeves..

Anyone know of the sweater i'm referring to? Anyone know of a pattern like this.

Yup, know the sweater. Those movies are full of great knits. Some patterns are online. Mag knits has a few. None of the wonderful sweaters that Mrs. Weasley wears though. Keep looking. Someone out there is working on it.

I almost want to learn to crochet just to make that sweater!

I started one on my own a while back... using up scrap bits of lamb's pride worsted and Manos... I haven't done the body of it yet, which is knit, because I've been trying to find a cardi or pullover that I could ease the sleeve caps into. I've never combined knit and crochet on this scale before, and I'm still a relative novice at knitting tops.

Thanks for that picture though, that gives me some clearer idea as to what I'm looking for. Hey Rhy, did the website you pulled that from say anything about a pattern they used or adapted for the body?

Also, you might like to know that the cardigan itself is knitted - not crocheted - and I can give you the Sirdar pattern number that I used if you wish.

I'm almost tempted to re-do the sleeves for knitters as not everyone can crochet - someone stop me!! Those sleeves took MONTHS to perfect and compile the pattern, and then I had it verified by a beginner crocheter to ensure it was easy to follow.

I've just finished knitting a large baby shawl in fine 2 ply baby yarn, with crochet edging (for speed, as the baby decided to be born before I'd finished the very lacy knitted edging). To see one I've already finished please visit the crafts pages on my website.

My next project: making some Xmas gifts for animals in need. I guess the charities will be raffling them, so if anyone is interested, please let me know. (Please bear in mind I'm in England).

Don't tease - I'd definitely purchase pattern if you transcribed into knitting speak The crochet pattern is lovely but I'm still getting to grips with my knitting at the moment

IF I start a knitted one, it won't be until the new year, and then it would probably take at least four months until a pattern is ready. Are you willing to wait that long? It's not that easy to 'convert' actually, so may even take a bit longer.

ARRRRGH why am I saying this? I've so many projects on the go at the moment; not sure I'll finish what I've started unless I live to about 200. Oh well, it's a challenge

I know what you mean! I'm a beginner knitter and have about 500 balls of yarn for umpteen projects - all of which I'm supposedly starting "soon"! Your pattern is lovely enough that I'm seriously thinking of signing up for a crochet course in the next month or two, just so that I can have an excuse to buy your pattern

I'll let you know how I get on. They do run some great courses in my area (London) and I can remember enough of crocheting from childhood to give myself a bit of a head start.
