I finished my stuff: time for new stuff!

See what I did?

Finished objects! Woot! The Fururama Brain slug, the Knitty Sock Monkey Hat, and a frog bag ....

The monkey hat was my first intarsia and my first duplicate stitch.

And the biggest help was this site! Thanks to Amy for the videos, and to everyone who answered my questions!

The sock monkey hat is an Xmas gift.

The frog bag was a b-day present for my sister, who collects frogs.

The brain slug went to my partner, for a halloween costume.

I was going to give all of them for Xmas, but now i have excuses to knit more.

Thanks to the modmins for the pic resize and the topic move ... I ain't knewbie for nothin "

where did you get the pattern for the MONKEY?? I have never done intarsia but I have a girlfriend that would FREAK if I made that for her!!!

I'm so jealous you made the sock monkey hat !! I have been carrying the pattern around with me for weeks looking for the yarn. My husband works with an adaptive ski program for children and so he will wear any crazy hat I make him. So how are was intarsia?

Great job on all your projects.

aineepooh1: i got the pattern from Knitty.com. It was the first time I did intarsia too, and i didn't find too difficult, and the videos here are a real help!

PS I didn't use the prescribed yarn: I found some grey/black marl stuff that looked like socks and twined three strands together to make one. If i did it again, I would probably use four strands. It came off a monster size cone that I found at a thrift store. I just used the stands as one, and knit a swatch to check for relative tension. Since its not a sweater I just checked to see if it would fit a human head! The other yarn in the hat was just odd sport weight used double.

I've been fooling around with the cheaper thrift store buys in yarn for a while until I get up to speed. Does it show that I am cheap?

I would say though that I wouldn't use the multi-strand approach without a lot of work space. At one time I was working with seven balls of yarn dangling off the monkey hat! I plan on winding the three strands ionto one ball for the next hat ....
