dropping first stitch
Hello to all,

I have run into this situation many times, and although it is probably easy to master, I just can't seem to fix it. Sometimes when starting to knit -- something goes wrong -- I drop my first stitch and have a large loop on the side. How do I fix this?

Thanks!

Jaye

Turn your work around like you were just finishing up the previous row, stick your needle into the stitch and knit or purl it like you did before. Then turn again to begin the new row.

Are you sure you dropped it--are you short a stitch? I'm only asking because sometimes the end stitch can be loose.

I was going to reply the same as Ingrid- I usually have loose stitches on the ends of my knitting- but as I add more rows, it tends to even out. Count your stitches to make sure you're actually dropping one, before you start adding them.
