Sock Yarn
I've decided that I'm going to try knitting a pair of socks for my next project. What type of sock yarn do you like? It doesn't have to be anything fancy, and preferrably not too expensive.

I second the Sockotta yarn. It is $9 at my LYS also. You can make a pair of socks with one skein though, so I think $9 is reasonable.

I bought some Lorna's Laces (after reading the rave reviews here), and it is sooooo soft! I haven't knitted it up yet, but I can't wait!

Sockotta is one of my fave sock yarns. I also like Jawoll by Lang.

I like Sockotta and Magic Stripes. (Bernat Sox isn't good for socks, though - because it's 100% synthetic, it doesn't stretch and makes your feet very sweaty.)

i like the magic stripes from lion brand , but i think they are discontinued. i also bought an obscene amount of fingering yarn from jojoland on ebay (30 balls) and the price averages about $3 a ball, so $6 for a pair of socks. this was through auction, but you can buy singles from her too. its lovely soft yarn, and very pretty too.

I love Lornas Laces, Koigu, and Jitterbug. Pricey but I prefer them because I don't care for the fake fair isle patterning on some brands. I am a sucker for hand dyed yarn.

Oh and a plug for Cherry Blossom Fibers's etsy shop. ITs from out own Cindy H and I ADORE her sock yarns!!!
