OT - Smelling Smoke in Orlando!

Gosh, I just walked outside and got a huge whiff! There are wildfires here in FL and I'm just feeling so sad about the devastation it causes. I keep thinking about all the animals getting displaced and all the lives that are affected by fire.

Where's the rain when you need it?

Isn't it awful? I'm in Ft. Lauderdale, less than a mile from the Everglades and the smoke is thick here. I actually had to drive to an appointment yesterday evening and had to turn my headlights on so others could see me through the haze. It's sad to think of all the land being destroyed and all the animals displaced.

Oh man yesterday it was so thick we could SEE the smoke, and we're a good 40+ miles from the nearest fire which is in Keystone Heights... we're in Orange Park, just outside of Jacksonville. I know our suffering is nothing compared to those who's homes are threatened, but the smoke has been giving us headaches, nose and throat irritation, stinging eyes... Miserable!

We need rain!!!! That piddly little sup-tropical storm Andrea is looking like it's just more of a tease than anything.

Anyone know how to do a rain dance?

Stay safe. My husband just texted me.. he is doing one right now.. only we are no where near the fire danger you all are.. he just wants his lawn to turn green. Sending Rain thoughts your way.

I live in southern CA and my DH is a retired firefighter. We've seen our share of these fires, too. I hope both our states get some rain soon! (Here in CA it's the lowest rainfall on record!)
