french knot stitch?

Anyone know how to make a stitch that looks like a french knot? I saw a child's sweater that had a monogram on it that was done intarsia, but the monogram was done in a stitch that looked like a french knot. Any ideas?

thanks for trying, but that doesn't quite look like it. The stitches were right next to each other so there is this solid monogram letter formed with these stitches in the middle of the baby blanket. It's hard to describe and I'm afraid I'm not doing it very well....sorry. Besides the stitches making a solid raised monogram, they individually look just like french knots (if you are familiar with embroidery). It really makes the monogram stand out a little. I wish I had a picture I could show you. Really, I appreciate your response.

Were they perhaps embroidered over the knitting, so that they were, in fact, French knots?

no, they were knitted "intarsia", not on top of the knitting.

no, I have done bobbles before and they are much too big, unless you can do really tiny ones, because the "french knot" was each stitch (as if it were added on top of every stitch) but it wasn't. Crazy, huh? I might have to buy the child's sweater that I saw it on just so I can try to fiqure it out.
