joining garter stitch in the round

How can I join the rows of garter stitch while knitting in the round on circular needles. The pattern I am working with lists garter stitch alternating 2 rows each of color A & B. I don't like the colors being staggered at the connection. Is there anything I can do to avoid this????? Help! Wanting to learn more! Thanks!
