How to begin sock knitting?

I bought a thing of sock yarn and five double ended needles. Where do I start?

Well, I love my little sock book (it looks like a sock) and has very good pictures and descriptions and tips. And nice patterns for several socks. You might want to invest in that, it's not much $.
I'm sure everyone will point you to silver's sock tutorial, I don't know where it is but ... someone will. Good luck!

If you don't know how to knit in the round the videos here would be a good place to start.

Search "Silver's Sock Tutorial" it will come up in search engines. I saved it so I could change it because the background wasn't friendly to my eyes/migraines, so I don't have the link handy either.

Being a guy wanting socks for myself seems to have left me making up my own patterns.
Even if you want to follow patterns these links may help teach you to knit socks automatically or at least be able to adjust a pattern.

I also find this method to be fun.

Ooooo - thanks, Mike. I've always wondered how to do 2 socks at a time on DPN's.

These are the 2 links I have for Silver. The 1st is 2 socks on one needle. The second is a sock on dpns. Good luck and enjoy, I love making socks.

I had been knitting for a lot of years but had never been brave enough to try knitting socks. Silver's Tutorial made it possible for me to be addicted to sock knitting. Now I always have a sock OTN.

Good luck and Happy
