Several weeks ago I found a French pattern for Dora the Explorer. After paying to have it translated I realized it was more of a rough guide then what we would consider a pattern. Additionally, the French knitting terminology is a bit different than what we understand here in the states. Anyhow, I am working off the notes and creating the pattern in a format that can be understood by all.
With all that said I would like to invite everyone to join us at Jo Jo's Softies Group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Jojosoftee/ for a knitalong for Dora. The knitalong will officially start on June 1st.
A picture of the finished work is posted on my blog http://jojossofties.blogspot.com/
I am currently doing mine on size 5 needles with Cascade 220 superwash and am going to guesstimate that she will be about 20-22 inches tall. You can adjust the size by using smaller needles and a different weight yarn.
Hi! I joined your yahoo group. My dd is a real Dorah fan so I know
she'd never forgive me for passing up the chance to make her a doll!
Now to start yarn shopping....like I needed an excuse!
I picked the Cascade 200 for the range of colors although I'm not crazy about the flesh color I am using. You need the following colors: Orange for the shorts, fuschia or dark pink for the T-shirt, yellow for the socks, purple for the backpack, white for the shoes and flesh color for the body.
