Help with Debbie Bliss pattern
Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum, but I love knitting and am a web addict, so I have a feeling this will become a second home
I need help! I found this pattern for free on the web.
It is from her Cashmerino book (which I don't have). It calls for you to cast off straight across the back (no shoulder shaping). When it comes the shoulder shaping at the top of the left and right fronts I'm lost.
See, each front has 4 large cables running up. The pattern calls for you to just cast off one cable to be joined to the back, the other three are continued to the center back. I think this will make the collar ginormous and the shoulders weird and too small....
Should I perhaps try binding off three cables worth of stitches and just continuing one cable to the back neck for collar?
Also, what does she mean by "Taking incs at front edge into reverse st st, patt 1 row"? (I understand the abbreviations, its the idea I don't get, what am I supposed to do with the new stitches?)
Has anyone out there knit this? It is gorgeous, but I'm lost!
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide!!!

OMG that is a beautiful sweater. OMG that is SO beyond my skills, time and patience levels right now. You MUST promise to share pix once done! I hope you find the answers you seek. Everyone here is VERY helpful, except for me obviously cause I'm still having just looked at the sweater and not even glimpsing at the pattern yet.

Thank you I have the back done and the left and right front done up to the bind off point, each are on holders. And I've just started the sleeves. Cables are soooo much fun and once you get used to the pattern, it's pretty easy. I'm really hoping I can sort this out ok, because I've spent some time and money on this (I knit it in Cashmerino DK like the pattern called for and it was so worth every penny )
I've taken a few pics but I can't get them to upload. I'll get my DH to help me when he wakes up

I think there is a mistake in the pattern. It says to cast off 27 and continue pattern for 79 - those numbers must be reversed.

gorgeous pattern!

For the increases, just work them in rev stockinette on future rows. The cable will continue down the sleeve, but the underside of the sleeve will be all stockinette.

It's hard to picture what you're having trouble with without seeing it, for me, anyway.

I'd probably stick with the pattern and see what happens.

Thanks for the link--the sweater is beautiful!

Be careful washing the Cashmerino--it wants to pill.

Mirl 56: Thank you! That is exactly what I thought too. Just reverse the numbers. I looked for a pattern correction on her site but there wasn't one. I'm thinking it might have been corrected in the book, but maybe not on the version sent to the magazine for publication.
Ingrid: Thank you! I figured it out at my first set of increases. The reason I was confused was that there were some increases along the collar on the left and right front of the jacket that I ignored (I thought it was fine with the number of stitches I had and saw no need to make it wider) but then thought maybe I was supposed to do something special with those increases. But now I see it was just a fancy British way of saying "keep the stitches in pattern". And thank you for the tip about washing! I'll be extra careful!
Seeing it in person, I really think the number should be reversed. And if not, I still think I would prefer the collar with just one cable rather than 3 going up the back. My first sleeve is going rather quickly, so I might finish the left and right front and put them together with the back and see how it looks. I can always frog. I just can't see the collar being 80 or so stitches without folding back over and then you'd lose the cable pattern...
Thank you both for the advice!!!
Oh and here is a link to my blog with a pic (can't figure out how to post here).
