universal classic shades
Has anyone knit with universal classic shades? I want to make sure it isn't itchy and my LYS doesn't carry it. I'm also considering using universal long print. Any opinions?
thanks!

As a matter of fact, I have!

I made the "Noro" striped scarf with the Classic Shades. If you click the link it goes to my post here in KH. I am very sensitive to wool and itchy in general and unfortunately it seems a little itchy to me which bummed me out since it came out so beautiful!

I have the long print, but haven't used it yet. You could always get a few skeins of either/both of them and if you can't use it then you can gift it. I used two skeins for the scarf.

Jan,

Thanks for the reply. Your scarf is just beautiful and exactly the color I was looking at. I'm going to use the yarn for the Rambling Rows sweater; I wonder if it would still itch with a shirt underneath.

Can you wear any wool blends, such as Plymouth Encore? Do you think the long print will be itchy for you?

thanks from one "itchy knitter" to another....

You're welcome! I find Encore sorta borderline. It does itch a little and I'm not completely sure I could wear a sweater with it. Without trying the LP I'm just not sure. My first inclination is to say that it might be a problem. It's not super soft on the skein to me, but I've learned that I'm extra sensitive.

I've almost given up finding a wool yarn that isn't a problem for me so I'm making a sweater now out of James C. Brett Marble Chunky which is 100% acrylic. It's very soft and the colors are pretty.

I wish I could be more help, but the problem is everyone is different with regards to their sensitivity so the only way to tell for sure is to get some and try it for yourself.

Thanks Jan. I decided to order the yarn and give it a try; if I'm sensitive to it I can always return it.

The marbled chunky looks soft and pretty. I hope you'll post a picture of your sweater when it's done.
