pattern trouble
I am knitting a baby sweater and finishing one of the front sides.
The main body of pattern is seed stitch as follows:

*p1,k1, rep from * to last 4 sts, p1,k3. (ws)
k3,p1, * k1,p1; rep from * to end. (rs)

I am at the last few rows of neck shaping; have bound off 5 sts, leaving 23 sts remaining. I am to maintain pattern, decreasing one st at each neck edge until 13 sts remain. I did that. But where I am having a problem is:
-work in patt on rem 13 sts until 9".- When I work the original seed patt from above, it comes out wrong, as there are not the right amount of stitches left to execute the original two rows of seed st pattern. Am I supposed to not do the four stitches that are different at each end? I have tried several ways on with separate yarn on needles and cannot get it to work.
The weird part is, I did one side last week and had no trouble, and the left and right side read the same at this point of the pattern. I am obviously confusing myself bigtime. Hopefully someone can help me?

Keep the k3 sts, I think they're for the bands, but you may have to change where you start the WS row. For seed stitch, just knit the purl sts and purl the knit sts as you look at the row and that will keep you in pattern.
