Help with a V neckband please

I have picked up my stitches to knit a neckband on a V neck tank top. The instructions say when I come to the 3 centre stitches I have to " insert needle purlways through back of 2nd st then 1st st and slip both stitches off needle tog". I have tried this several times but cannot understand exactly what I am supposed to do. Please can someone help! Thanks

It sounds like they want you to purl 2 together through the back loop (P2tog-tbl). Click over on the Glossary tab, then scroll down to the P's. There's a video there how to do it. It can be an awkward stitch to preform.
