How to bind off the faggot stitch?
Hi...

I'm new here...I hope someone here can help. I just finished a scarf in a lovely faggot stitch...K1, YO, K2tog. I was just about to bind off, when I realized the regular knit bind-off won't work. Any ideas as to how to bind off this stitch?

Any help will be appreciated!

Thanks...Betsy

How did you start it, was it cast on and go into the pattern, or did you knit a row first? If you knit a row, then knit or purl as you bind off. You can also bind off in pattern - k1, yo, pass st over, k2tog, pass stitch over, k1, pass st over... Try it and see how that works.

Suzeeq,

I started it towards the end of last winter. Then the weather got warmer and I put it aside until last week (I'm a very slllooowww knitter...but it relaxes me)). I think I did a long-tail cast on, and just got right into the pattern of K1, YO, K2tog.
I'll try what you said and see if it works...Thanks!

There's no reason you can't bind off a stitch that's a YO; I've seen some bindoffs that purposely add one to keep the BO loose.
