I'm in Salem, the state capitol with no LYS, where are you? Several members are living in Portland, and a few further south. Think there are several on the coast also.

I live about 20 minutes from Portland. And you really don't have an LYS?

When we moved here, there were two, now there are none. McMinnville has a decent one, and I love Yarn Garden in Portland, but nothing here.

I won't buy yarn from places like Michaels or Hobby Lobby, because I'm a bit of a yarn snob.

Since Portland is a frequent stop, it doesn't hurt me to find the nearest shop and run my fingers through the bins of yarn.

I buy from Michaels quite a bit, but I mostly buy needles from there because they are pretty cheep there. My LYS is pretty expensive, so as soon as I run out of yarn I'm going to check out Yarn Garden and Happy Knits since there 2 blocks away from eachother.

I'll never run out of yarn, not going to happen because I was given a bunch when a friend passed away. Sent a huge box (or was it two) to Shendah last year for charity knitting, and still have two boxes full.

Yarn Garden really needs a visit from me
