ORLANDO FLORIDA YARN STORES?

Living here in the cold north we are off to Orlando.
suggestions for yarn stores, and bookstore. Any other suggestions to see, flower shows? {avid gardener] We are going to seeMickey Mouse etc.

My understanding of Florida comes from the previous owner of my LYS. She says that the tax on purchases in Florida is I believe 11 percent tax that I would bring my yarn with me rather than buy it there while visiting. I would suggest you do a Google and see what you get.

We have three LYS in the Orlando Area. They are all small, so if you are looking for an amazing selection, we really don't have that. BUT, they are wonderful shops and I know the owners and other knitters would love to have you come in. The International Flower and Garden Festival is in full swing at EPCOT in Disney World. I was there on Sunday with my granddaughters and everything was beautiful. Lots of pretty flowers, topiaries, trees , vegetables ... anything that grows. And they do it SO WELL. There are also gardening workshops and a Flower Power concert each night. Well worth the admission price. When you walk in, you can smell the flowers .... ummmm. There was even a Dale of Norway Learn to Knit Kit at the gift shop in Norway. It goes through May.

This is the perfect time to come to Central Florida ! The weather is perfect and everywhere you look something is blooming.

OK , so I went back and read your post ... SO GLAD you will be "doing Disney" and will be there for the flowers. Be sure to check out the garden workshops, I think they are in the park and have a scheduled time for them.
The yarn shops are at least an 1-1/2 hours away from the Disney area. Leu Gardens probably 45 minutes ... but really no comparison to EPCOT.
If you do venture to the beach Cocoa is a great choice. Good parking, good beach, good food and cute little shops ... including the LYS. It is about 2 hours from the Disney area. The gulf beaches are closer ... probably one hour and very nice. I think there are a couple of shops in Tampa.
We have lived here almost 20 years (from the Texas Panhandle) and I am STILL a tourist !! Let me know if you have any other questions

Sales Tax in most Florida Counties is 7%. There could be one or two that is at 8%. Hope you have a great time in Orlando. We are finally starting to get some Spring weather.

I'm moving to Cocoa area in 2 weeks. I just sent all my yarn down to FL but left a few projects out for the car ride and plane ride down.
