What do you knit/crochet for summer time use?

Just curious...cuz im not commin up with anything...

I was commissioned to make "summer stuff" for the shop and i dont really know of anything ....

tank tops...what do you make them out of? and what brand? Im goin with cotton right now...but the stuff im usin has horrible drape.

head scarves/ bandanas/ doo rags? these were requested but i dont want the normal garder stitch triangle...i want something fun.

anything else???

I cant go by a pattern for any of these things, but pictures of stuff would be good inspiration.

You tell me to make fall/winter/spring stuff...im all over it!!! but Ive hit a brick wall on my summer ideas...Any suggestions would help me immensly..

For summer tops you can use bamboo, linen, silk and blends. Little girls sundresses. Market bags (best out of cotton or the felted kind), or purses. Socks.

Knitty.com has summer issues with lighter clothing in them.

I would go with a few sun hats, and beach bags.

I don't know what cotton you're using, but I'm making a sweater with Plymouth Jeannee which is a blend of cotton/acrylic. It's very soft and has a nice drape.

Lissa, I am working on some tank tops now done with cotton/mix yarn. There are so many summer sweater patterns out there that I just love. And, I love summer sweaters.

Also, I start work on big projects that I want done by Christmas.

I've seen some neat headscarf type things on TV. I know that a character in Gilmore Girls had one because I wanted it. It had a leaf type/tree of life type pattern on it??? it was a triangle but had an i-cord i thing that actually tied under her hair....I hope that made sense???

Lissa, Here are pats. you might like. You just want pictures for inspiration so I'm sending the following. If you have a Michael's store you might find this free pat. It's online at naturally caron.com. It's called "Spa Aphrodite Shawl" Looks more like a shrug and is done in their bamboo and acrylic. I had a problem with that yarn and switched to their Country (part wool). Had a problem with that too and susieQ was very kind and didn't tell me to quit my whining & belly aching, just switch to larger needles. Isn't she cool?!! It worked!

Im using the Patternworks brand "Sunapee" and may I go on record as to saying...I HATE this stuff...its like knitting with 5 strands of thread held together...somebody forgot to spin it.... its rough and has horrible drape. I got it in a cotton grab bag from them cuz I wanted to try out new brands of cotton yarn. I wont be buying this stuff on purpose.

You may just need to use a larger needle, but some cottons just aren't as soft. I'm using a US 6 for my sweater and it's fine for me.

That's how the cotton yarn is on thrift store tops I buy to reuse. If you use a little larger needle it may not be so difficult to work with.
