What am I doing wrong?
So I've watched the long tail cast-on demo and the knitting demo, while attempting to knit for the first time I seem to have done something wrong.

For one thing I think my tension on the yarn is too tight, what is the propper amount of tension supposed to look like?

For the other, after completeing my first row of knitting my last loop is way loose. Its the first loop for the long tail cast-on???

this purprle part that is sticking up is the first stitch from my long tail cast-on. When I knit the first row and get to the end, they always look like this, I really don't like it as its not as tight as the other stitches are, but is this okay? Should I just ignore it and keep going?
