Hi! Sorry for the delay...

I used Aunt Lydia's Cream #10... it kinda hurt my "feeder" fingers because of the stiffness/coarsness, and looked up different threads to use on a different forum... but once I was done, I was pleased with the way it turned out, with out having to starch it... maybe I just need to work up a "resistance"... kinda like when you push your needle through your knitting, and it hurts at first, but then not so much.

You may already know this, but it appears as though there are almost as many "threads" out there as there are yarns! who knew???

I have bookmarked a couple of on-line suppliers I have learned of, and will order different varieties to check out... I love this...

That's interesting about the variety of threads available. I don't see many in the craft stores. Can you share any links you like with us?

there is many variety of crochet threads really out there .
the sizes range from size 3 to size 80 (I have heard of size 100, but have NOT cked that out yet) ..
just remember : with the threads : the larger the number the thinner the thread ..
the steel crochet hooks : the smaller the hook the larger the number it is.
OKAY !!!!!!!!!
Check out the aisle that you get your size 10 - Aunt Lydias or Royale thread at . those tiny little balls can be used for crocheting and tatting ... OK ..
check out the cross stitch threads alot of those can also be used for crocheting
and you CAN crochet with just regular sewing threads also !!!

I have made granny square earrings with sewing threads .. really cute ..
you can also make little icicles with it, or even tiny swirls as earrings with it also .. very cute and a variety of colors and varigated colors.

Yeah, I haven't ordered on line yet, ... from what I have read, these are the places I will check out, becuz they (see below) say variety is pretty limited in the retail places:

Peaches & Creme
Coats and Clark

I got the info from a forum topic (Favorite Thread) at crochetville that has some discussion/opinions about the different types/brands etc. I thought is was pretty helpful, but not sure if it would be tacky to link to it. PM me if you want it.

Since this is new to me, I am reading whatever advice I can find!
