Can't help you with the yarn store, but I was so glad to see a fellow Alabamian, I just wanted to say "HI"

There's not much but there is a Hobby Lobby with a pretty fair selection of yarns. The fabric stores also sells some yarns. I'm in Cullman so Decature is 45+ miles away fropm me, but I go periodically. However, we're getting our own Hobby Lobby this summer so it will be much better for us knitters and crocheters.
