I suffered with migraines for years when I was drinking diet colas. Just thought it was how I was wired. Then I quit drinking diet colas. headaches went away. I can't eat anything with asparatame in it at all! I have to read every label. My health greatly improved after I quit drinking them. Good luck in this adventure and I hope it helps you as much as it helped me!

Well, it's been a week with no cokes. I've gotten past the headache stage and I think I'm going to be ok. I've been drinking tons of water. The only time I miss having a coke is when we're out running errands or going out of town. That's when I used to get my Rt 44 sonic drink. I really miss that. Maybe I can treat myself with one of those flavored water drinks when I go out and about. I can't keep them at the house, because of my tendancy to go overboard with flavored drinks. I don't want to end up trading one bad habit for another.
Thank you all so much for your support. I was really bummed about this, but now I'm feeling a lot more positive.

Good for you! Sounds like you are well on your way!

I would discourage you from getting a flavored drink. At least for a while. I have found that it is way too tempting to revert back into bad habits if I even let myself indulge a bit.

Anyhow, I'm so happy for you!

Congrats on getting through the first week, the first 2 are the toughest.

One thing about the flavoured water drinks: They have more calories in them than people realize. So read your labels before you buy it, and if you already know this, then just ignore me.

Oh, I know what you're going through. I was a hard core Mountain Dew addict, but kicked that habit, too. I probably consumed a 12 pack in one day, myself. I'm glad I did, because it really did a number on my teeth and I ended up spending big bucks to fix what my MD habit did to my teeth. I have an occasional soda, mainly root beer. Mostly I drink water now. I find soda too be to fizzy for my taste now.

Good for you on getting through your first week!!!
