your favorite sock needles?

I use Knit Picks Options on fixed cables and do Magic Loop. I've used DPNs and just hate the fiddly-ness of them.

...and I'm the opposite of Jenny. I tried ML once and hated it. I love doing socks (or anything small in the round) on bamboo DPNs. I might try some addi DPNs soon, though. I knit pretty tight. It's pretty much just personal preference.

I prefer the 2 circulars method myself, using knitpicks fixed circs. I couldn't get the hang of the DPNs.

I love my Harmony wood needles from Knit Picks. I have sizes 3 and 6 and I love them and WILL be buying more for sure.

I also love aluminum needles. Especially if you knit tightly.

I love bamboo as well and have many sizes of them. I just have to remind myself not to knit so tightly.

I am fairly new to knitting but I have found 12 inch circular needles and try to use them as much as possible. I start the toe with ML on a long needle and as soon as possible move to the 12 inch.

I find 12 inch circular save time by not having to slide the needles for ML or two circular needles back and forth. In addition there is not a problem with ladders as I more from one needle to another.

Down side is you can't use 12 inch for casting on, need to move to a second circular needle at the heel and you can't try the sock on as you go.

There may also be a problem for those with small feet, I wear mens US size 13s, and if you do an intricate pattern you might have difficulties.

I myself am using knitpicks Options circular needle and the Magic loop(ML) method.

Knit Picks metal DPNs.
I don't think fidgeting with pulling a long loop would be for me, I don't even like pushing the extra length of DPNs through.

I tried Boye DPNs (craptastic anodizing scratched up and made working with them difficult) and Susan Bates (very rounded tips, easy to get used to but impossible-hard to get into a tight decrease).

Knit Picks seems to have a solid plating, the nickel plating is very smooth and the sharp points are harder to get used to but work very well (I was just using my Options in a darkened room with no problem and I've only had the DPNs a week so it didn't take long for me to get used to the sharp points).

As you may have noticed, DPNs vs circular and metal vs wood are very personal choices.

KP nickel plated sock dpns. THE BEST!
