Still learning!
I have finally completed the back piece to my first sweater and am left with stitches on a stitch holder that I know will join the sleeves and neckband later on. Just wondering how much of a tail I should leave with any stitches on a stitch holder and do I need to knot the last stitch to stop it unraveling?

Any help appreciated!!

If the pattern says to cut the yarn then leaving the tail 8 inches or so should be fine. If you are concerned you can leave it longer. I've never had a problem with something unraveling while it's on the needle so you shouldn't need to knot it.

6-10" should be more than enough even if you need to sew up any seams. There's no need to knot it, it won't unravel.
