What Kind of Yarn to Choose?

So, I really want to make Little Red Riding Hoodie from the Dominitrix book for myself as my first sweater project, but I don't want a yarn that will require dry cleaning or reblocking every time.

Am I limited to acrylic/other kinds of synthetics? I know that animal fibers will need blocking, but what about vegetable like bamboo or whatnot? Will that require special care as well?

I'm a bit lazy when it comes to my clothing as you can tell, I'm sure ... :P

You can use superwash wool--it's machine washable.

There are also some nice blends out there, Plymouth Encore being my personal favorite--washes and dries in the machine beautifully.

Hey YarnKitten,
I'm wanting a machine washable Red Riding Hoodie too! I was thinking Heirloom Easycare 12ply, or Cleckheaton Country 12ply, which are both Superwash Wools. But it's been hard to find a yarn with both a nice Red and a Dark Grey (I'm going to put the wolf image on the back ).
Let me Know how you go. I still have some projects to finish up before I cast on but then maybe we could KAL?
