washing 100 p.cent cotton??

I've just finished knitting a beautiful sweater with Sirdar 100 p.cent pure cotton. Although the label says not to tumble dry, I would like to know if anyone out there would take a chance and put it in the dryer anyway?? (on low low heat of course). Note: the finished piece is suppose to fit "snuggly" but mine, since I adjusted the pattern to fit my 40 something-sized tummy, it's a bit more loose than I expected. Anyone???
