My 2 year old daughter started Playschool and I decided to make her a bag to use for her extra nappy and clothes etc.
I used Funky fur for the body and Sirdar wash'n'wear for the face. the pattern is in one of my knitting magazines and was a complete pain to do. every bit was knit separately and then sewn together. I would definitely do it in the round if I made it again.
Here is a couple of photo's am quite pleased with the end result.
My goodness! Your daughter will be the envy of all the other kids! It's incredibly cute.

I have tried to get her to wear it on her back and take a photo but so far she has not been able to stand still long enough for me to be successful. but will keep trying.
The teachers commented on how nice the bag was when she started and was quite surprised to hear that I had made it myself.
