Ack, for the first time in this KAL I'm completely unmotivated to do my
block! I've got so many other projects going or planned to get
going that the thought of doing this one is just *blah* oh no! I
better get on it....

No! Get motivated. NOW! Just kidding. I know how that feels. I am only now getting just about done with my mosaic square. I am way behind. I had slammed out my first 4 squares in like just over a month, then slowed way down. Everyone gets the blah's. Don't make it a chore. You will get to it when you get to it. And when you do, you will slam it out and you'll love it!

Finally finished the Mosaic block. I am now starting -- finally -- my cable block! I have also decided on the colors for my fair isle square -- a charcoal gray and a med light rose. I am stuck on a couple patterns to choose from. They are all so pretty. At least I got out of my knitting slump. I even started a seamless sweater for my 16 year old daughter. I am making out of this really cool self striping sock yarn. The warmth of wool, but the benefit of superwash. It's got pinks purples and blues, but kind of muted so it's not super crazy. But it is sock yarn so TONS of stitches.

You go girl! Sounds like your zipping along now hehe...I'm
about to decide on a pattern for this month...I think! This month
will be over before I know it and I'm a bit slow when it comes to
colorwork so I really should just get something decided and do it.
I'm very tempted to "cheat" and do a plain block with a colorwork
band so that it's featured but not over the whole block....I'm evil
that way!

I'd love to see pics of the sweater from the sock yarn....I've been
really tempted to do something like that for my little girl but the
right yarn hasn't jumped out at me yet.

Block Eight - Take your pick!

Oh no! I've forgotten to get our next month's block project posted!
How about we make this month a "catch-up" month and you
can make any kind of block you want. Take your pick!

I'm a bit behind on projects and still need to make my fair isle block so
I'll probably do something easy for this month so it doesn't take too
much time

Sounds good to me. I was caught up in the Secret of the Stole KAL, but have now found that the clues are a bit boring and a bit to samey. So that is on hold until I see the finished stole. The MS4starts on Friday but I have to admit I will hold off on that one until I know I want to bother knitting it. So have a bit more time to complete my squares this month.

Ok, I'm sad...I got my catch up block done...I just did another
cable block since I'm a sucker for cables but I still haven't done
any fair isle block haha I think I have a mental block!

Karina, have you heard of the DaVinci KAL? It is a lace stole/shawl
KAL by a German designer. I guess for a bit of fun there will be
riddles a la DaVinci to solve to get all the shawl clues but from what
I understand not all are required to have a completed shawl. Sounded
fun to me...there is a Ravelry group and the website about it is here:
http://www.belle-online.de/daVinci-enter.html

I signed up for it because I love a good riddle haha

Ok, so I'm a loser! haha I can't get motivated to do a fair isle
block. I remembered that from some steeking experiments I have
a small left over block so I'm thinking I'll take it and just crochet or
pick up stitches and knit around the outer edge until it's the required
size. Cheating in a way, I guess, but I'm afraid I'll never get
motivated to do one from scratch! I just seem to have a mental
block when it comes to colorwork.....

How's everyone else coming along?

Block Nine - Illusion or Shadow knitting

Ok, so our next block will be Illusion or Shadow knitting. Googling
either phrase will bring up lots of information on this fun technique.

Here are a few sites I found with tutorials and patterns:

http://www.illusionknits.com/basics.html
http://www.instructables.com/id/SYMNBNIFB11L2CB/
http://knitalittlestore.blogspot.com...-tutorial.html
http://www.freshislefibers.com/Patte...ttinglinks.htm

There are a ton of patterns on that last link Someone had mentioned back in the beginning of our KAL of wanting to do a pink
ribbon for Breast Cancer awareness. October is Breast Cancer
awareness month and there an illusion pattern for a pink ribbon listed
on the last link I posted above if you want to do that.

I've done a bit of illusion knitting and it looks a bit intimidating if
you've never tried it. In reality, it is quite easy and once you start
it and see how it works, it can be quite a fun knit!

Enjoy!
