Hiya Violet,
I am so sorry to hear bout your Grandma, I hope that she can recover quickly. I'm glad to hear though that your ears are doing better.

Your spinning looks great hun!! Your first attempt isn't all that bad, really! Your second is lookin good. One thing though, I've found, is that you start out nice n thick, you get some practice in, before you know it you're making laceweight singles and then when you try to make the thick stuff again, it's HARD!! Don't ask me why.
Just keep practicing all the time (you will become addicted) and before ya know it you'll be makin sock yarn right n left!!!
K, I see that you are on Ravelry there, you can go n check out the "Spindlers" group or "Spinner Central" also there is a "Beginning Spinners" group also. Any one of those would be a great resource of info for ya. That's where I ask all my dumb questions. LOL!!

We're feeling better, well I am-throat's still not 100% but o well. Bailey has the cold now, for sure & Jacob still has an occasional cough & Caitlin's sleeping buther 102F fever seems to be gone this morning, hopefully it will stay gone I think it was her teeth.

Gina sorry about froggin, but DD doesn't need another top so glad you did!

Chris can't wait to see photos!

Tami, how'd the raley go? Whatcha workin on now?

Lady V I agree with Tami, spinning is addictive & you'll spin smaller and smaller with more practice!

I'm totally disenchanted with SW3 & wont ever do it again. I know why some dont do swaps now. Lots of emails later & Helen can get pretty nasty and 'short' in her emails so I just quit responding, not gonna give her the satisfaction. Anyway this morning I got an email from my assassign & she said that Helen wasn't very nice in the emails to me (Helen'd copied her & her assassign in the emails to me) so she offered to knit 1/2 of one sock & send the yarn to her assassign to finish the damn game. What a nice person Jane is. Anyway thats a headache that felt better after a margarita! jk, but the margarita was good!

Caitlin's down for a nap now so I'm gonna go knit on my second clog-last one I plan on making for a while, hopefully. I'm tired of making clogs, this is my 5th pair. Hope to felt them tomorrow.
Hope y'all have a fantastic Tuesday!

O and so glad Carey that you taught your DD to knit! I tried to teach Jacob a few weeks ago b/c he wanted to learn & he just had a death grip on the needles & finally said, "Mom maybe I'm too little yet, I'll try when I'm older." ok fine with me. Brian asked him about it and he said, "Daddy it's harder than you think."

Awww! It's amazing what a difference a few months made for Emily- last time I tried to teach her, she just couldn't coordinate two needles and wrapping the yarn. This time she is not only able to keep a handle on both needles, she's even holding the yarn wrapped around her fingers the right way.

Sorry about your experience with SW3! I sometimes wonder why people feel the need to be rude like that.

Carey - congrats on your peach pie and good job for teaching dd to knit!
The gusset is simply I don't know what to do with it. Do I cable it, do I Stst it, slip stitch it... I just keep going back and forth and never coming to a decision.

Carey I meant to tell you that I'm glad you liked the recipe, that was my Great Grandmothers recipe.

Jess maybe you could seed st it? or reverse st st it? you know purl it so that it looks like the heel is wrong side out? then you could do the toes the same way? There's so many things you can do with the heel, do the plain ol k1slip1 except for the first & last 4 sts and do those as a 2x2 cable? Lots of possibilities. My neighbor does all hers seed st & they look nice (unless the rest of the sock is ribbing-then it looks big and out of place, IMHO) good luck & have fun!
